Finally, two of my favourite topics combined ... coffee and art!
My art teacher Karen Frankel showed us how to make our own coloured watercolour paper using coffee. I love the effect of the unevenness of the colour. Since the paper was already uneven, I thought picking a totally unexpected pencil colour would add to the uniqueness of the sketch.
This is a copy of Degas, and this was a lot harder than it looked. I kept drawing her face way too big. It is, in fact, tiny, and shaped like a triangle, not a face at all, but my brain couldn't comprehend that until three different sketches.
