So now I know why it's so important to cage your tomato plant.
I didn't.
I staked it twice, but I pretty much left it to grow however it wanted. Which meant most of it was in the dirt, leaves rotting, because it was too heavy to stay upright. Then today when I tried to cage it, a lot of the branches with fruit & flowers broke off, so I'm not expecting much of a crop.
Lesson learned - put the cage up at the very beginning.
