Art Journal.... My month of journaling begins
For the month of November, I am following Cassia Cogger's Art Journal Wisdom online workshop.
I am taking on her challenge (explained in Day 6, Morning Pages) and am going to art journal every day for a full month. Her suggestions are fabulous and easy to follow. I have already done 6 days from her workshop as well as working with her 21 Secrets Online Course.
Today is day 5: Limiting Yourself. The idea is to create an art journal page following these three instructions:
1. Only use shades of one colour, plus white (my choice - purple)
2. Bring in some element from nature (I chose flowers off 3 different plants and leaves off my lemon tree - you could still smell them after I varnished them on the page)
3. An image/stencil that reminds you of your breath (I chose the stencil with curly cues in it, I used it as a repeating pattern with white oil pastel)
On top of that I started a mandala (see next post). I really like how far it got, I don't know if I will finish it, but that's beside the point. I am quite freed by the fact that art journaling isn't about creating polished products, but it's simply about creating something where there was nothing, being in tune with your mind, expressing yourself and experimenting.
