It's about 7-10 layers, which is frustrating because I don't like waiting for layers to dry. (So I have to busy myself with another painting in the meantime.) after about 6 layers, I used an exacto knife to cut grooves into the paper, which caught more paint and left beautiful fine, dark lines. Splashing the dots on was A LOT of fun. And on the final layer, I used a straw to push the paint around. I love the final effect.
