What's the artist version of writer's block?

I went to my hairdresser's salon today, and saw lots of new art on the walls.

I loved them. Very colourful, and energetic. And very, very abstract.

One of the stylists did them, and they are fantastic. I wish I could just do that, just paint without hearing my old art teacher's voice telling me not to mix those colours, not to start without a lining, not to ruin the paper, not to rush ...

I guess I've not developed the spontaneous side of art. I'm too nervous of what the end result is, so I'm afraid to experiment.

But after seeing what I saw today, and knowing that she paints as a hobby, I'm inspired. Maybe tomorrow I'll put my dear Lady aside and just have some fun.
